Mt. Hood Trail Work Party #2

Warpaint Outdoors is excited to announce our second campout, trail party in cooperation with our Volunteer Service Agreement with the Mount Hood National Forest Service.

Our second event will be at the Clear Creek Trail system from Friday, Sept 27th to Sunday, Sept 29th.

Sign Up Here

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - Everyone is welcome! The outdoors belong to all of us! If you have never worked on trails, we will help you every step along the way. We will provide safety gear (helmets, gloves, tools, etc.). If you have experience working on trails, let us know if you want to lead a small team during the event.

If you have your USFS certification for chainsaw or crosscut saw, you must bring your own saw, chaps, eye protection, and a copy of your certification card (physical copy or photo on your phone.)

The work for this event is mostly brushing (trimming back overgrowth) and tread restoration

SCHEDULE - BASE CAMP - The USFS in Mt Hood is generously offering to reserve campsites for us. The site includes a vault toilet. However, there is no running water so please plan to bring your own. The site is accessible to any vehicle (car, truck, etc.)

*Directions will be sent out once our sign up list is finalized.

We’ll set up camp on Friday, work on trails on Saturday, and host a group trail ride/hike on Sunday to try out some of the trail we’ll be working on. Join us for one or all the days for any of the activities.

MEALS - Dinner on Friday and Saturday will be provided (menu to be announced after sign-ups and dietary survey), a sandwich station (bread, cold cuts, PBJ), and snacks for lunch each day. Coffee will be provided in the morning. Please bring anything else you might want for your food/beverages. Please bring your own reusable plate, bowl, silverware, and drinking vessel.

WHAT TO BRING - Tent, sleeping bag, pad, extra toilet paper, lots of water, dishes, and a camp chair. During the work day, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to work on public lands; this includes a 6-point suspension helmet or bike helmet (some loaners provided), eye protection, gloves, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and sturdy shoes/boots. Bring a pack, with water, snacks, mosquito repellant, and sunscreen for each day as well. Blister treatment is a great idea too.

WEATHER - Mt. Hood's weather changes rapidly from sunny and warm to cold and rainy. Please bring clothing that allows for changing conditions.
